Cerritos Highschool History: Its establishment, and values!
Cerritos High School began construction in September 1971 by sharing its campus with Gahr High. Due to rapidly increasing student populations in California, it prompted the construction of its current campus, located very close to Cerritos Civic Center, Cerritos Millennium Library, and Cerritos Sheriffs Station. The students here pride themselves in their values that make them dons. This is called by our teachers as "The Cerritos Way." It has three main subjects, you must be Ready, Respectful, and Real. Pictured below is everything the student must follow. You are taught and told about these value from your start to finish at Cerritos.
- Ready:Hang up backpacks. have Id ready at all times, participate, move when bell rings, keep track of belongings, walk with purpose, get to class on time, find seat quickly, be attentive, proceed in orderly fashion, keep traffic moving, arrive on time to avoid accidents, have id ready, have forms ready, know why you are in the office and who to speak to, be ready for any purchases you may have.
- Respectful:enter quietly, use computers or any other types of technology responsibly, focus on work, engage in positive behavior and appropriate language, keep campus clean, follow adult supervisor directions, keep your hands to yourself, observe personal space, use inside voice, show positive and supportive spirit, respond appropriatly, follow traffic laws, be patient, allow pedestrians right-of-way, speak in appropriate tone, display appropriate manners, observe line etiquette, and display appropriate manners.
- Real:Pay obligations, Honor AUP, own up to damage on books, follow rules when engaging in school spirit competitions, speak up for others, maintain integrity of school property, behave in mature, respectful manner, use appropriate language, enter/ exit through appropriate routes, report violations, park in designated areas, take responsibility for your actions, and no stealing use your own money and ID to buy things.
In conclusion, Dons are taught three main values that will most likely last them most of their life. Being ready, respectful, and real is great advice that I will be using for the rest of my life thanks to this school.
